Crystal Harris Wanted to Dump Hugh Hefner at the Altar
But she made sure her last Playboy cover was printed first.
We thought Crystal Harris dumping Hef days before the wedding was bad. Turns out, it could have been worse. She was actually planning to leave him at the alter.
The 25-year-old model reportedly approached various publications asking for a $500,000 media deal to go through with the plan to dump the Playboy boss humiliated while waiting for her at the alter during their June 18 wedding at the famous Playboy mansion.
A source told the New York Post newspaper, "Crystal wanted to ditch Hef at the altar. Her plan was to walk up the aisle and say she couldn't go through with it. The wedding was to be filmed for a reality special, and her refusal to marry him would be a sensation.
"She was looking for a tie-in deal of around $500,000 for the exclusive 'I ditched Hef at the altar' interview. While there was interest, Crystal didn't get an offer anywhere near half a million."
Because, seriously, who wants to cross Hugh Hefner? Aside from the fact that hurting an 85-year-old man is just plain cruel, he does run an empire that no media outlet wants to be banned from.
Despite her asking price, insiders insist the aspiring singer's plan not to go through with the wedding was not just financially motivated.
Kristina Shannon – who along with her twin Karissa began dating the media mogul around the same time as Crystal before being dumped 18 months ago so Hugh could have an exclusive relationship - claimed the blonde beauty was bored of "watching classic movies every night", adding the Playboy mansion can become a "nightmare" if you are unprepared to do as Hugh wishes.
She told the Daily Mirror newspaper, "Living in the Playboy Mansion is like being in a golden prison. It should be every girl's dream. But if you're not willing to do exactly what Hef says it can become a nightmare."
Hef has openly shared the fact that he enforces a 9PM curfew for his girlfriends and offers them a weekly allowance so that they don't have to get regular jobs. In his defense, asking your woman to be home by 9 shouldn't be considered prison like conditions if you are with the man for the right reasons. Obviously, the Shannon twins and Harris like being out past 9 a lot more than they liked Hef and being a Playboy Playmate.
Harris did get her last photo shoot in, though, before dumping the mogul because she thought it wasn't "the right thing" for her to do. The July issue of Playboy magazine already printed with a cover story of "introducing Mrs Crystal Hefner", featuring the former bride-to-be wearing her ex-fiance's trademark sailor cap, has already hit some newsstands and Hef has revealed it will now feature a special sticker addition.
He tweeted, "Recent events call for a special sticker on the July cover. Look for it on newsstands.(sic)" before providing a link which showed the magazine with "Runaway bride in this issue" emblazoned over the image.
However, he seems otherwise unscathed by the event, tweeting about a domino game he was playing last night.
He wrote, "Marston won tonight's domino game with Shera Bechard, Cristal Camden, Ashley Hobbs, Jennifer Pershing, Anna Sophia Berglund & me.(sic)"
P.S. Anna Sophia is Crystal's BFF.
